As you may know, Summit Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative. As such, our members pool their resources for the benefit of all the members of the cooperative.

Our My CU Club has been developed to reward those members who support the cooperative with their deposits, loans, and by making Summit their primary, or only, financial institution.

When you use Summit CU for your borrowing, saving, and checking needs, you help your credit union grow stronger.  And a strong Credit Union means more and better services for you.

My CU Club Categories

Our members have been assigned to a My CU Club category. There are two types of categories; age-based categories and relationship-based categories.

First are our age-based categories, which are:

Then there are our "relationship" based categories. These categories are based on the total number of Qualifying Services as well as the total of your loan and savings balances:

  • Standard Club — Members with at least one qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances over $500.

  • Enhanced Club — Members with at least two qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances over $5,000.

  • Partner Club — Members with at least three qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances over $15,000.

  • Premier & Senior Premier Club — Members with at least four qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances over $25,000. (Seniors who qualify for the Premier Club category are designated as Senior Premier and receive all the benefits awarded to Premier Club members.)

As you will see, this leaves a small number of members without a club designation. These members will see one of two designations listed on their statement:

  • Join Today   Members who do not have at least one qualifying services and/or at least $500 in qualifying balances.

  • Not Available Applies only to business accounts.

Your Club category will be assessed at the end of each month and printed on your statement.

Let us look at an example to assist you in determining how many unique Qualifying Services you have. If, for instance, you have both a Membership Share Savings Account and a Special Share Savings Account, examining the chart above we see that these two services fall within the same Account Type and therefore would count as only one Qualifying Service. The same would be true if you had two car loans or if you had multiple Certificates. A Membership Share Savings Account and a Christmas Club Account, however, would count as two Qualifying Services because they are designated as separate Account Types.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I do not remember signing up for any club. What is My CU Club?

We have assigned our members to a My CU Club category. We developed My CU Club to reward those members who support their credit union with deposits, loans, and by making Summit their primary, or only, financial institution. When you use Summit CU for your borrowing, saving, and checking needs, you help your credit union grow stronger, which leads to additional services and benefits for everyone. We designed My CU Club to reward those who help contribute to Summit Credit Union’s cooperative efforts.

How did you decide which club in which to assign me?

We calculate your My CU Club category based either on either age or on a combination of unique Qualifying Services and Qualifying Balances.

There are three age-based clubs. Membership in these clubs is based solely on the age of the member.

There are four relationship-based clubs. Membership in these clubs is based on your total number of unique Qualifying Services and the total of your combined loan and savings balances

  • Standard Club — Members with at least one qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances from $500 to $4,999.

  • Enhanced Club — Members with at least two qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances from $5,000 to $14,999.

  • Partner Club — Members with at least three qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances from $15,000 to $24,999.

  • Premier & Senior Premier Club — Members with at least four qualifying services and qualifying loan and savings balances of $25,000, or more. (Seniors who qualify for Premier status are designated as Senior Premier and receive all the benefits awarded to both groups.)

When will my club category be re-evaluated?

We will assess your My CU Club category at the end of each month and your status for the next month will appear on your statement.

What can I do to obtain more perks?

Bring business you may have at other financial institutions to Summit Credit Union. Check our list of Qualifying Services for a complete overview of what services you may have elsewhere, but here are a few suggestions.

  • Let us refinance loans you have at other lenders

  • Move your deposits from other financial institutions

  • Let Summit finance your next automobile purchase

  • Start up a payroll deduction or direct deposit to your Summit FREE checking account

  • The next time you borrow, borrow from Summit

  • Establish a signature line of credit

  • Apply for a Summit Visa Credit Card

  • Open a Christmas Club account

  • Consider a Summit Home Equity Loan — that’s probably the fastest way to increase your qualifying balance.

What is my Qualifying Balance?

Your Qualifying Balance is the total of all your Summit deposits (savings, Certificates, Christmas club, Money Market accounts, etc.) plus the total of all your Summit loan balances. For example:

Regular Savings $2,000
Christmas Club $500
Visa Balance $1,500
Automobile Loan Balance $9,000
Your Qualifying Balance $13,000

Note that loans with payments over ten days past due will not be included in your Qualifying Balance.

Why don’t all of my accounts qualify?

Qualifying Services are determined by how many unique Account Types you have. If you have multiple services of the same Account Type, they are treated as one Qualifying Service. For example, if you have two Car Loans, they are counted as one Qualifying Service since they are the same Account Type. However, the balances of both Car Loans would count towards your Qualifying Balance. For a complete list of Account Types, see the chart above.

I have more than four services, but am not in the Premier Club. How come?

To be a Premier Club member, you must have four or more unique Qualifying Services and a Qualifying Balance of at least $25,000. Check the list of Qualifying Services to insure that you are determining your Qualifying Services correctly. For example, a New Auto Loan and a Used Auto Loan are the same Account Type and, together, count as one Qualifying Service; however, the balances from both accounts count toward your Qualifying Balance.

My spouse and I both have accounts at Summit, but they are separately held. It looks like we are being penalized by not having our accounts jointly.

Spouses or life partners residing at the same address may have their accounts linked for purposes of combining Qualifying Balances. Just let us know which account you want linked to your primary account and we will assign the Qualifying Balances of that account to the Qualifying Balances of the primary account.  Qualifying Balances associated with the linked account will be added to the Qualifying Balances of the primary account to determine the My CU Club category, but the Qualifying Services of the linked account are not able to be added.  To have your accounts joined for My CU Club, click here to download a printable form. Fill it out completely and mail it, fax it, or bring it in to your local branch.

Why did you not link my accounts from the start?

We cannot automatically combine household accounts for My CU Club because of privacy issues. However, if you will notify us in writing, with the signature of both account holders, we will be glad to link (just for My CU Club) your accounts. Note that being joined for the purposes of My CU Club does not affect the privacy or accessibility of your accounts.
