SAFETY
A Summit Credit Union Safe Deposit Box is secured by a reinforced steel vault. Strict control procedures are adhered to and access is allowed only to authorized persons. Only You or other assigned persons will know the contents of your Safe Deposit Box. In fact, it takes both the Credit Union’s key and your own key to open the box holding your possessions. The Credit Union does not have access to nor knowledge of the valuables in your Safe Deposit box.
SECURITY
You may authorize a deputy for entry into your Safe Deposit Box. Even if your key is lost or stolen, no one will be able to enter your box without prior written and recorded consent. If you become unable to visit the Credit Union, no other person may have access to your box without legal authorization.

Summit Credit Union has four different sizes of Safe Deposit Boxes to meet your needs. The following is a list of sizes and annual fees.

Renewal fees for each additional year are conveniently charged to your designated account on May 1st. You will receive a notice of the charge and the charge will be listed on your statement. Summit Credit Union will not increase the amount of rent without prior notification to the member.
EASY TO RENT
It only takes a few minutes to rent a Summit Credit Union Safe Deposit Box. Once you have chosen a size suitable to your needs, a Member Service Representative will have you sign the entry form and answer any questions you may have.
It is a good idea to keep an inventory of your contents and photocopies of important documents at home for reference.
IN THE EVENT OF DEATH
Upon the death of the owner of a Summit Credit Union Safe Deposit Box only a deputy or person authorized by the Clerk of Court may enter the box. They will be asked to take an inventory of all the Safe Deposit Box contents for tax reporting purposes.

Are the contents of a Safe Deposit Box insured? |
| Answer: |
Yes, excluding cash the credit union does carry limited insurance coverage for your contents. Additionally, specific items, such as jewelry, precious metals, etc. may be insured by a Homeowners’ insurance policy. Members should consult their insurance agent for details and provisions.

What should I do if all of your boxes are rented? |
| Answer: |
If there are no Safe Deposit Box vacancies in the Credit Union office, you may ask to be placed on a waiting list until such time one is available.

Why does the Credit Union require that the rental fee be charged to the member’s checking or savings account? |
| Answer: |
To save cost. Members will receive a notice of the charge and will have the charge listed on their statement. This method of automatically collecting the annual fee provides a convenient and efficient means for renewing your Rental Agreement.

How many keys will be issued with a Safe Deposit Box? |
| Answer: |
Only two keys will open the member’s lock on a Safe Deposit Box and both keys are given to the member. The Credit Union does not keep an extra key.

What if I lose my key? |

If one key is lost or stolen, you can pay a lost key fee of $25.00 and be provided with another Safe Deposit Box. If both keys are lost or stolen, the box will have to be drilled at a minimum cost of $250.00. |
