Using Debit and Credit Cards Out-of-State

Your Card Transactions Could Be Declined

Card fraud is at an all-time high and almost all card issuers are limiting credit and debit card approvals at distant locations – generally more than 200 miles from your home of record.

However, you can prevent your credit card and debit card transactions from being declined by letting us know, in advance, of your travel plans.

Blocked Country List

In our efforts to protect you from fraudulent transactions, we monitor transactions on both your VISA® debit card and credit card that are outside the area in which you normally perform transactions.

Because of a high level of fraud coming from these countries, we normally block all debit and credit transactions. This includes both in-person and remote transactions from taking place in those countries. If you plan to either travel to any of these countries, or have transactions processed in them, please be sure to notify Member Services in advance.

Currently, the countries in which transactions are blocked from our debit and credit cards are:

  • China
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • India
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Cyprus
  • Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis
