Federal Regulation D requires financial institutions to place restrictions on withdrawals from savings accounts. Summit Credit Union allows three free withdrawals (including transfers) each month from regular and special savings accounts. A fee of $3 only begins to apply starting with the fourth withdrawal or transfer from any of these accounts during the same calendar month.
You can avoid the fee by using a free checking or money market account when you need more than three withdrawals in a month.
